Recently it has been reported that cis-2-decenaoic acids or cis-9-octadecenoic acid are very effective antibacterial agent. Most of the S. aureus isolates are capable to produce fatty acids modifying enzymes in different conditions. So might these enzymes have a role in bacterial survival after exposure to toxic fatty acids?
