It is apparent that biofuels are an essential component of our future energy supply and in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. More innovation is key to unlocking the true potential of biofuels, particularly for transport, to scale-up and improve cost-effectiveness.
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7 ensures access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all by 2030. The importance of identifying potential renewable energy sources for sustainable energy production, rather than using non-renewable energy resources such as coal, oil, and gas, has recently gained traction. Therefore, biofuel will have a future as a renewable energy source because It can be formed using low-cost raw materials such as biomass, raw materials are abundant, synthesis time is comparatively short, etc.
Biofuels are important in the current energy transition from fossil fuels to true renewables but definitely NOT essential after the energy transition. Let's not forget the considerable CO2 footprint of producing biofuels.
Sure. The renewable energy source employed directly in a variety of industries, including transportation, is biofuel. Due to the fact that they are liquid (or gaseous) fuels compatible with modern engines and blendable with current fuels, they have the potential to bypass conventional obstacles to entry.
Let's not forget that biofuels implies combustion which implies CO2 emissions. All CO2 emitted with the flue gases as well as in the conversion of biomass to biofuels will only partially be absorbed and in the longer term by new growing biomass to produce these biofuels. Hence the CO2 balance of biofuels is negative.
That's why we need to move away from our ancient methods of producing heat and power by combustion to solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and even nuclear energy as to save our common global climate.
in this forum there must not appear different view than yes! but the key is not in the academic or research fields but in the application areas! There are plenty of reserves in production and use, I feel that scaling down is a prime area to improve efficiencies and improvements necessitated by scaling down. Would there anybody with a research project that need contribution of a technologist, please call!
I do agree that Biofuels have great future in the enerymatrix because it is the substitute for the non renewable energy which creates polltution to the environment and to have hazardous side effects to the well beings.
There are many options to get energy sources but Biofuels is the one emerging areas of the research in the European Countries and the western.
