Do you know that in 1990, the tower of Pisa had so much to blame that officials had to close it for visitors and start sanitation work. The engineers managed to reduce the inclination by 44 centimeters, restoring the tower to a position it had in 1838. The Tower of Pisa was again open to visitors and tourists in December 2001.
When the engineers started the venture, they first collapsed the wheels with strong steel ropes because of security. The tower was still leaning forward and the only way to get it fixed and in the next millennium, it was to rebuild it. The experts were very careful digging under the tower by pulling large quantities of soil. Then the tower was fixed with several tons of heavy weights.
"We have returned to the world one of the most valuable works of art," said architect Mikele Jamiolkovski. "Rescue action" cost over 50 million German marks.
