The analgesic technique called "sensorial saturation" is a form of multisensory stimulation involving taste, touch and talk during a painful procedure on an infant. It is highly analgesic, as it uses the gate-control of pain to antagonize the arrival of the painful stimulus to the brain.

I have read your heel prick randomized trial published in Pediatric Research Journal. Its a remarkable technique. I did a case report in 2011, based on audio-analgesia through music, which made me more interested in other ways of attaining analgesia.
I am a bit off to the main stream here, but I would like to add that an analogous technique is used in Pediatric dentistry for anxious children. Its called SDE. I have added the article explaining it, here. While reading about audio-analgesia, I got into audio-visual techniques, then addition of vibro-acoustic stimuli to it. Then I came across your article on sensorial saturation, which was interesting.
I tried to search for systematic reviews on this. I found one but couldnt access it, its authored by you. Can I get that article please?

The paper you quoted is quite interesting: too often analgesia is provided uniquely via drugs, while the first intervention should be on the environment: I think also to women's delivery pain. If you give me your email address, I'll be glad to email to you the paper you requested. carlo
