Now, in the GITECO research group of the University of Cantabria we are developing a research project related to sustainable drainage techniques. Appart from the development of new materials and designs for drainage infrastructures, we are developing a GIS based tool in combination with multicriteria analysis for the selection of the most appropiate drainage technique for a specific area.

I will suggest you to do literature survey. There are lot of study done. I will suggest also to look at my publication "An analysis on energy efficiency initiatives in the building stock of Liege, Belgium". Here I have used GIS to classify building stock based on different criteria. LEAM, University of Liege, is doing lot of work in this area. Please visit the university library/website to know more.
