@James I think around 60Hz is nice. The lag between movement and interactive events should not be noticeable.

Thanks James! I think Kinovea is a very good solution for offline processing of a video. However, for my application I need something that can collect data in give them to me in real-time because I have a so called table-top interactive system. The input to the system should be provided by the mocap system. Sorry that my question might have been unclear. If you know a USB webcam that can capture 60fps or more, please let me know. I am going to develop a computer vision program that will use the camera's frame and process it in around 20ms. I already have developed the system with Matlap but the processing lag is around 100ms; it was fast enough for my stroke patients but now that I am recruiting healthy individuals for a motor learning study, lag is going to create a problem.

A year later but what I find might still be useful for you. Have you looked at Qualysis Oqus MRI 1/3/5? I have no experience with it but it seems a very promising system and we are currently investigating its uses in MRI enviroment.

@Yang Ding: thank you I did not know about this particular product. Do you know how much each unit of Qualysis Oqus 1 would cost? I didn't need an MRI housing though. I could not find pricing on their website. Your help is appreciated!

I emailed them because I was trying to get MRI Oqus 1. So I will let you know if I hear anything. The only price I know of, is a full multi Oqus mocap setup probably cost in the order of 0.25million. Please consider the Codamotion mocap system. Unlike camera based systems, you only need one of our scanners to take very accurate 3D measurements. This can also help to keep the cost down compared to alternative systems. (Plus it's portable and works in most lighting conditions so can be used for research outside the lab....)
