Dearest Leila, virus in agriculture plants can hardly be control positive except by removal or destroying affected plants. The only control is sometimes using tissue cultured planting materials or resistant varieties.

1. I think that you should send him (Dr. Faggioli) an personal email, instead of posting a message in his profile. He might not check it.

2. Also, you need to be aware that those virus are plant pathogens, so it might take a while for you to request them from one country to another country. You or your advisor might need to file some applications to obtain these materials. Just for your information.

Thank you dear doctor, I could not find some of them in Iran and I think this is because of olive compounds that prevent valid results in ELISA tests, too.

Hi Yuan,

My supervisor and I have tested several cultivars of olive trees by DAS-ELISA for some viruses and there were no positive result of viruses in them, but we have found a sample which were negative in ELISA but positive in RT-PCR. I think olive compounds prevent valid result in ELISA. and unfortunately because of the lack of positive controls for RT-PCR, I have to try an alternative method like NGS to verify my results.
