Do you have any suggestions on how to effectively obtain a neutral graphene oxide prepared from modified Hummer's method without using base wash?

I've tried to wash them with large amounts of water for several days yet the pH doesn't even close to 5 to 6. I started to think it's impossible to get pH 7 using this method since we are using a concentrated acid during synthesis.

Because of the concentrated acid used for synthesis of graphene oxide, it is impossible without base wash. If you really need a neutral graphene, what we did was adjust the pH with a weak base like ammonia solution (ammonium hydroxide) prior to addition with other materials.
