Dear Ajit,
I do not feel my research performance in 2018 was up to my satisfaction. The
main reason is the following: I have two papers accepted for publication, but
none was yet published. This means that they will only published in 2019.

Close enough, I’d say. I did produce as much as I had planned, though not all of my accepted papers were published in 2018 as I expected; some of them got delayed due to journals’ backlog, which is understandable.
Research performance in UK universities is measured by the Research Excellence Framework (REF) which takes place over a seven-year time period. see next
