Researchers found high mobile phone use was associated with stress and sleep disturbances for women, whereas high mobile phone use was associated with sleep disturbances and symptoms of depression in men. Overall, excessive cell phone use can be a risk factor for mental health issues in young adults.
This is a very good question with a lots of possible answer depending on the device you are using, now in order to measure how much radiation a phone is radiating a term called SAR (specific absorption rate) this term stands if any device may cause cancer to our body, different countries have different maximum value of SAR, for example in United States: the FCC requires that phones sold have a SAR level at or below 1.6 watts per kilogram (W/kg) taken over the volume containing a mass of 1 gram of tissue that is absorbing the most signal.
European Union: CENELEC specify SAR limits within the EU, following IEC standards. For mobile phones, and other such hand-held devices, the SAR limit is 2 W/kg averaged over the 10 g of tissue absorbing the most signal.
so before you buy a new phone make sure to check the value of SAR for the particular phone.
For the question, "What are the health risks associated with mobile phones and their base stations?", they answered at WHO as follows:
"While an increased risk of brain tumours from the use of mobile phones is not established, the increasing use of mobile phones and the lack of data for mobile phone use over time periods longer than 15 years warrant further research of mobile phone use and brain cancer risk. In particular, with the recent popularity of mobile phone use among younger people, and therefore a potentially longer lifetime of exposure, WHO has promoted further research on this group and is currently assessing the health impact of RF fields on all studied endpoints." From the following Web page published on 20 September 2013:
Environmental exposure with the potential to lead to increased cancer risk is most likely higher due to exposure to outdoors air than it is for cell phones. The WHO in their 2014 Cancer Report (released in 2015) declared outdoors air a major carcinogenic factor.
Yes they are harmful and I have experienced it personally....some 10-12 years back when I joined my first job…the location was far from my native… I used to talk on mobile for 2-3 hours continuously, almost every day to my family members and friends...after 5-6 months I felt that after a talk of 15-20 min there was burning sensation in my ears…it was a unique type of feeling… difficult to explain in words...few days later it started paining…It required me to use medicine for around 15-20 days…It took around 6 months to recover from it completely and the main thing that helped me was I reduced the time over phone (not more than 20-30 min) and started using earphones...
Even today if I talk for around one hour over mobile I get a feel of same thing (not that intense)…so as per my experience mobile phones are very harmful for human health….especially keep your children away from them…

Yes, the radiation from mobile phones affect the human health. There have been concerns, from both scientists and the media, that cell phone usage is linked to tumor development.
I practice caution when using my cell phone. My car has bluetooth, so I do not touch my cell phone when I am driving, and at home, I turn on the phone speaker so that the phone is held at some distance from my head.It is better to be careful than later be sorry and maybe get a brain tumor. When microwave ovens first came out, they were viewed as releasing radioactivity, and some countries banned the use of such ovens. Over the years, the safety of microwave ovens improved, and now we see such ovens used in the countries in which they were at first forbidden. Time will tell regarding the brain tumors "due to using cell phones".
I do think there are risks associated with cellphone usage, but I also think no clear understanding exists as to what that risk is. Industry doesn't want fear raised over their product, yet the people who use them equally do not want to hear any talk of risks to human health and safety. Microwave ovens are often cited as an example of radiation devices that are safe, but the exposure time with these devices is minimal. Cellphones are used daily and throughout the day by ardent users and their health effects are often visible.
With all that said: I do think the increase risk to health for cellphone usage is small, but it is advisable to keep their use at a minimum, maintain the power of devices low, as well as, the towers. I do think in time, the power requirements will steadily go up, therefore, the health risks will climb as well.
Mobile is very useful service for the entire human beings as it helps the contact & the mobility of the mental expression more convenient & more practical .
This is one of the positive sign of this research but at what cost students & young generation forget their basic action of their life career & while going all working their mind moves in the direction of the tone or the ring of mobile. To me , it is bound to come in the mind & development of healthy growth of the young generation.
I do not think it is a matter of commenting here what each scientist outside this discipline thinks (his opinión), but rather of listening to the experts on the effects of electromagnetic radiation on health. In addition to the links I posted in early November, this German recent brochure may be a good start for information:
One of the challenges of being here at RG is to accept the fact that some people believe "otherwise", and we cannot just push away their feedback even if we believe that we are right and "they are wrong."
Whenever I put my cell phone in my front pocket (right side chest) for some time e.g. 15 or 30 minutes I feel pain and anxiety. And that is why I keep my phone in trouser pocket.
When I make long duration (more than 10 minutes, e.g.) I feel irritated.
I think so indeed. Please read the following links which explain how these cell phones impact on human health. Moreover, there are impacts on other living communities in our environment. Also, there is a great effect on social mode and behavior which it discussed on the RG site.

Yes I do and all your responses confirm my belief. But it seems that such harmful risks are not stopping the digital natives from using them especially for learning in higher education. In fact, the trends and issues for mobile devices now show that wearable technology is going to be the next fad as my preliminary reading on the topic shows.
Many thanks,

Its effect is heard here and there in publications/ news papers etc.. Being a necessity, we can not avoid this gadget, but we should use it only for communication for other activities we may stick on to computers.
".... Why is there concern that cell phones may cause cancer or other health problems?
There are three main reasons why people are concerned that cell phones (also known as “mobile” or “wireless” telephones) might have the potential to cause certain types of cancer or other health problems:
Cell phones emit radiofrequency energy (radio waves), a form of non-ionizing radiation, from their antennas. Tissues nearest to the antenna can absorb this energy.
The number of cell phone users has increased rapidly. As of December 2014, there were more than 327.5 million cell phone subscribers in the United States, according to the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association. This is a nearly threefold increase from the 110 million users in 2000. Globally, the number of subscriptions is estimated by the International Telecommunications Union to be 5 billion.
Over time, the number of cell phone calls per day, the length of each call, and the amount of time people use cell phones have increased. However, improvements in cell phone technology have resulted in devices that have lower power outputs than earlier models."....
I do not doubt the statements that many RF members have made here. I also think that there are other "sources of harm" that some nations have been exposed to. Who is keeping track of cancer incidence cases in such countries?
We have to be very careful when using mobile phones because there are many studies and researches prove this, but we don't care because these phones became very important in our life and we cannot get a way from. But we must take care.
Very true , mobile phones are harmful for humans from their radiation. They radiate in human penetration frequency range, which is disturbing the structure of human basic elements
ly true. See my publication on effecects od radiations rrespnsible wide variert of disaeses bot onltu readition from cells bur microwave ovens and cell towers on various buildings etc causing autism and various ebnormalities in human populations. Nest time I will attach the paper or you may go to my RG account and llok for the paper by Sharma,Ahuja and Bir Bahadur.
Yeah The mobile radiations definitely causes the harmful effects on health. There are many studies proving this. The free radicals are also seen increased in long term use of cell phones . The so called Smart phones are really very Smartly destroying our health. I remember one of the facebook update of one mother about the selfie addiction developed in her daughter. In my views the slow encroachment in your brain is much more dangerous !!!!!
Well , I am not a doctor or somebody from biology background. How I see is - if eating meat and changes in lifestyle such as eating fast food (might have) detrimental effects , the phone radiation is also debatable . Now can we live without it is the question !!!!!
Yes it is harmful but Aparna madam rightly ponited out. .can we leave without mobile phones anymore? BTW neither mobile phones nor junk foods nothing harmful we can really avoid anymore!!
This thread can derive answers that can be useful to knowledge acquisition if the word "BELIEVE" in the question, "Do you believe that mobile phones radiation may be harmful to human health?" is replaced with a word that asks for people's EXPERIENCES in the usage of mobile phones like the one shared by < @Naveen Bhatt >. And to pay attention to preventive usage habits like that of < @Raid Amin >.
Also, I have to say that the damages caused by radiations of any sort are not normally visible on people's health until over 10 to 15 years. Take the case of people who live close to high-tension electric transmission lines. It is good to know that not only phones cause radiations; other equipment like computer, microwave oven, running engines and a host of technology machines and devices.
But a person moderately exposed to radiations like those from phones and who is into good nutritional diet and enjoys a good amount of rest might not witness any health issue.
