Many students often do not appreciate the value of education at a young age and that is why it is important for the teacher and professor to keep them engaged at all points trying to make connections between what they learn (in terms of transferable skills) and what the workplace requires. Teachers should also elicit from the students what their interest are and build on them during their schooling days.

Planning for youth-to-adult-life transition is important for all youth, and especially important for those youth with disabilities and their families. There is limited time spent addresses assets and strengths, working on career clusters and choosing educational options that best address the skills, abilities, talents and motivators or youth. College is not a one-size-fits all solution. Today in America, there is limited focus on personal finance with plays a pivotal role in future success for your people while they attend public education institutions. Also, the push for academics leaves many areas of life management unattended and unaddressed. Current education systems focus in the secondary setting on "macroeconomics" but fail to adequately address the personal finance side of budgeting, saving, and planning for the future. When special needs issues arise, having financial planning and life skills planning should be at the cornerstone of decision making for the future of the student, as a family process. In states where Special Needs Trusts are an option, Powers of Attorney and Life Plans should be readily put in place at the age of majority (18). The latest federal guidelines for WIOA address some of these issues for youth with disabilities in America, but states are far behind on engaging them fully, even with the implementation of PRE-ETS services through vocational rehabilitation programs. Overall, youth with or without disabilities are inadequately prepared to leave high school with strong financial and personal planning skills, unless those are strongly encouraged outside the classroom by family, social organizations (scouting, youth leadership programs) or faith communities.

Enriching high-school students with educational materials about how to manage their future (i.e., education, career talks) is essential and helps them grow both personally and professionally.

I seen several talented children (mostly the children of my friends). All parents had showed a slight irony in relation to the children (as a cure for arrogance). At the same time, children showed their abilities at a very early age (starting from two years old or little bit later). One of them, for example, was an “entomologist”, he knew many things that even a professional could envy. Another was a specialist in geography, a third ... (enough already, otherwise he will recognize himself). Their current interests now are extremely far from the children's "specialty", but even then it was clear that their heads were arranged correctly. The most important thing is not to praise, but to constantly nourish the "brain" - so that it does not remain empty. As experience shows, no matter by what, but they made a choice really, already in their teens. I think that if their parents forced them to learn something specific, the result would be much worse.

Learning is a continuous process but the goal (about the future) is clearly missing in students. The role of a teacher becomes extremely important, as he/she has to go beyond their fixed curriculum and tell the students about the importance of a goal in their life.

This depends on the context, the student's awakening or not, and even the path the student takes in high school. What should be taught to students and to our own children (and it can be done only by personal example) to remain human in a deeply inhuman world. To stick to general human values instead of group interests. To evaluate the not the descent, gender, age, but human quality and character. To avoid force and agression and to use persuasion by living in a way which may be attractive to others. These things are of primary importance - in my opinion.

On the technical side, at least for engineers and scientist students I would teach much matehmatics, model building, more languages (to learn to view their own way of thinking from outside) and - it may seem strange: history of science and philosophy to learn how changeable our views are historically.
