The characteristic length of a reservoir containing water and oil may be about 1 km, making reservoir engineers are usually not interested in the behavior at pore scale. Despite the large number of numerical studies of single-phase and multiphase flows in porous media, pore-scale investigation is still in its scientific infancy, since it is only over the last decade that relatively inexpensive high-performance computers have become available.
The purpose of the attached articles is to simulate single and two-phase flows in porous media using microscopic (pore) scale model with the help of COMSOL and CFD code FLUENT 6.3.
