We know that the mass of a structure influences the natural frequency. How can we know the direction of the mass applied on a model in ANSYS Workbench? Is it in the Z- direction by default? and can we change it?
I do not know anything about your problem: but after a small studying I have got the conclusion that you need’s to define gravity (z-direction), even if I have get the next material (attached file gotten from internet)… you can do it with stress ellipsoid of material (in function of gravity)… I am remarking again that the before made says was made intuitionally, without having detailed knowledge of subject…
But in something I am sure: That the mass of a structure no influences the natural frequency… The natural frequency depends from the gravity field of Earth and physical characteristics of object (density, temperature, and its surroundings effect (may exists other effect like gravity field of Earth)
By the way, I am quite sure that natural frequency is affected by the mass. If you look at the formula, you can find the term dynamic stiffness, k and also mass, m. I have done some laboratory tests and also numerical simulations that prove the influence of mass on the natural frequencies.
