This is a kind of chicken- egg problem so that both directions may be true depending on the circumstances . Political orientations develop in later stages of life when one's knowledge and experiences have reached a substantial level. As such, we tend to follow those political texts that are supportive of our present political beliefs. However, there are those adults who have not adopted any kind of political stance and their mind is politically blank. These individuals usually get their political views from the media. Such groups of people can conceptually be described by what is known as herd phenomenon and they are often prone to media influences one way or the other.
Some time ago I thought about the answer to this question. And I was really annoyed to come to the conclusion that it was actually media that I was getting my political views from.
Within the context of Arab world, most people watch and read media that support their existing views then blindly support. I can say here that only neutral media that we can watch to get our political beliefs. Unfortunately it does't exist in our Arab world.
