Indeed no diploma is equivalent to no salary through skilled jobs. Work from home is though very boring and not very productive.

I feel it is more important to have a degree to get a better idea about some particular field. But a diploma is also enough to get a basic idea of something. Students should expose to real-world problems to get a wide range of experience. Meantime they can broaden the knowledge by following online courses.
In a pandemic, Work-from-home is quite beneficial and safe. But generally, it is less productive. And also some people don't prefer to work from home (less Than 30% in Japan Work from Home)

Diploma or Degree certificates certify that the leaner had undergone a learning process of a given curriculum. But it does not mean he/she cloud demand a good salary on a diploma certificate. Salary based on how you can apply gain knowledge to real-world issues, if you can express your skill at interview you can demand a good salary. If students Appling for government institutes, then-candidate had to have some recognized qualifications but for the private sector, it always depends on skill.
