I am working with S.cerevisiae yeast and am trying to figure out wether a structure I see is a peroxisome or not. Does incubation on 1% acetate (sporulation medium) cause peroxisome autophagy? Published pexophagy protocols usually call for YNB+glucose without nitrogen, but I understand that such a treatment only causes pexophagy without triggering general autophagy. Incubation on acetate (as I understand it) should cause general autophagy, including the peroxisomes. Correct?
