I'm wonder if lithium complexes with ethylene glycol (or maybe with some basic inorganic ions) exist? I looking for these kind of complexes stable in sulfuric acid, but I'm not an inorganic chemist and I need help of someone experienced in this topic. I will be gratefull for your help.

I would expect a mixture of the complexes
[Li(HO-CH2-CH2-OH)(H2SO4)2]+
[Li(HO-CH2-CH2-OH)2]+ and
[Li(HO-CH2-CH2-OH)(HSO4)(H2SO4)]
in concentrated H2SO4. If this is an aqueos solution of H2SO4 then further species could occur such as [Li(HO-CH2-CH2-OH)(H2O)2]+.
The background for these formulae is simple consideration that Li+ is very small and usually has the coordination number = 4. Ethyleneglycol is a bidentate ligand.
My question is, why is this important to know?

I'm sure it's able to obtain the stable complexes of citric acid and lithium cations in strong acidic- HNO3 environement (I did some synthesis of lithium-based compounds using this conditions). If it passes with HNO3, presumably it will succeed with H2SO4 too. On the other hand it would failed while using EDTA instead of citric acid 'cause this complexing agent preffers the basic solution than acidic one. At pH lower than 6-7 the EDTA-metal complexes would precipitate.

if you need negative charges on your Li species you don't have a big chance in conc. H2SO4 since this acid wil protonate any anion. E.g. there is no chance for SO42- anions, which would be reasonably coordinating Li+. HClO4 is a stronger acid than H2SO4. Maybe you are lucky having some ClO4- ions to coordinate Li+ forming [Li(ClO4)2]- when adding KClO4 to your solution.
