I'm currently a master's student in political science planning to continue in academia. One of my professors mentioned a site in class called H-Net, also known as Humanities and Social Sciences Online, which is a forum for academic opportunities. The site also publishes book reviews.

I have begun writing book reviews that have been published on H-Net. Coordinating with a professor over email, I receive books in the mail and email my review within three months of receiving the book.

While I enjoy using these reviews to practice academic writing and read new books in fields I'm interested in, I'm curious as to whether I should include H-Net publications on my academic resume or future PhD applications. Since each review is evaluated by multiple academics, would an H-Net publication be comparable to a publication in an academic journal?
