I really don't think they treat them differently. If the paper is of of good quality with novelty or any information that will impact the scientific community I really think they would not reject it.

I think this is very valid and big question because there is always a bias to wards LIC in terms of fairness. Even you have great findings, the journal editors of high impact journals may not believe it. In some of the cases, they are right because labs in LIC may not have the accreditation certificate and it could be difficult to believe the data. To tackle this problem, I can imagine two things: 1) to have collaborations with well known laboratories in EU or USA etc so that they start to believe the data. 2) To make the lab in LIC accredited and build the name of the lab slowly so that the Journals will start to believe the data.

Yeah, of course, in some times it works. Some of the editors and reviewers are looking for the profile of the authors instead of the novelty of the paper. Moreover, the developed countries based journals think that the authors from developing countries could not pay for the processing charge of the manuscript.

I have elaborated further on the issue of “Open Access” and “Subscription-based” journals, detailed as follows:

There are different kinds of Open Access and Subscription-based Journals:

1. Open Access payment only upon acceptance of the paper. If the journal is fully Open Access they are usually known as Gold Open Access journals.

2. Subscription-based journals, with APC (Article Processing Charge) for making the article open access upon publication. These journals are known as Paid Open Access.

3. Some subscription-based journals charge submission fees, depending on the academic discipline. Some other these journals even charge fees for each and every revision!

4. There are many subscription-based journals that do not charge any fees at all.

5. There are many Predatory (JUNK) journals and publishers that offer Open Access and charge moderate to low Article Processing Charges (APC). Be careful! Predatory journals can damage your academic reputation because these publications will not be counted towards your promotion or tenure. I noticed that certain graduate students and some junior faculty fell prey to these journals. Thus, one needs to be very careful about these journals before making any submission. We need to act mutually to stop these predatory journals and publishers!

Desta Berhe Sbhatu I fully agree with Mazin A. M. Al Janabi. Chances are that "Open Access journals that are not yet listed in Scopus or Web of Science" are predatory journals. Always stay away from them!

In fact I am exclusively referring to the reputable open access journals. I understand what the predatory journals do.

You have put very important and alarming issue, the authors from LIC do not give emphasis for quality of the publishers even if they have good data, actually basic necessities are first, and the good publishers don't trust the good data's from LIC. But the reality is these LIC have a lot of problems to be investigated I think this is an opportunity. So that, these problems should be synchronized through collaboration and working together

Dear Demeke Fantaw I don't think that you can say this in such a general way. Only poor manuscripts are normally rejected, no matter what the country of origin is.

Dear Demeke Fantaw I think that professional Editors of high-quality journals do not "reject papers from LIC with out detail reviewing".

Overall, quality matters a lot!!

And it is the basis of publicity for those journals, so no compromise on that.
