We have NIST library version 2004 in our university. But i want to check my files from the latest library to search compounds. Can anyone help in this matter?
No. 1: Where did you get this information that there is NIST 2016 ? Just assumption or someone told you so? To my knowledge and in fact if you see NIST Website: https://www.nist.gov/srd/nist-standard-reference-database-1a-v14 you would realize that NIST 14 is the most latest one available. NIST 16 or 17 might be in their plans.
Secondly, starting from NIST 2002 to 14 the addition of more compounds is not significant enough- means- for plant metabolites, terpenoids or such biological aspects, the number of chemicals/ compounds have not been growing drastically. So be assured that 2004 NIST works very well and has worked for me too.
Thirdly, stop believing that if the databases/ spectral libraries are updated then the matches are going to be huge! The basic compounds that you are going to find are going to remain the same. You need expert advise on identification and matching which is a multi-stage process, of expertise and not just database issues.
Trust me: As far your terpenoid analysis or any kind of plant metabolite analysis is concerned, the NIST 2004 that you have is good enough!
