I am looking for any paper or thesis, even magazine article, that concerns business model, or strategy, for distributors of consumption goods, whether FMCG, consumer electronics, fashion and apparel, etc.

What I am looking for is a better understanding of the business model of companies that distribute and/or resell goods; for instance in the beverages industry. I want to clarify who exactly is their "client", if it's the goods' brand, or the retailers they sell the stuff to. If it depends on the industry, please give me some examples. I want to know if big distributors actually purchase stock or simply manage transport and warehousing, i would like to know more about logistic platforms supplying big supermarket chains, all that.

The Distribution course I teach has been focused mainly on the wholesale and retail side of it, but i would like to update it with more references to "Distribution as a Service" operators.

Thank you,

Paulo L
