Hi all,

Hope you are well. My lab is planning to use some Congo red agar (0.01%) for Shigella flexneri, and we are wondering how do you dispose of the used agar plates. The Shigella contaminated plates would have to be autoclaved first, what do we have to do with the autoclaved product since the SDS for congo red mentioned that to treat the waste in combustible solvent and dispose in an incinerator or some sort. Is the process the same as disposing normal LB agar plates after autoclaving. Thanks
