Hello everyone,

Through this post, I invite researchers to share their collection of digital tools that are designed for more PhD productivity and less headaches.

Here you can find the tools I use (For Windows):

1. Literature Management

  • Mendeley & Endnote

free reference managers and academic social networks that can help you organize your research, collaborate with others online, and discover the latest research. Both annotate all the title, authors and other info. They sync the papers to the cloud and other devices.

2. Writing

Writing papers is one of the important tasks in your PhD. The most used are Microsoft Office Word and the high-quality typesetting system of LaTeX.

3. Handling Data and Plots

I use MATLAB “plot” command for Data representation, INKSCAPE for 2D graphics (free) and. There is also: Origin pro ‘for plotting graphs which cannot be plotted using excel), GRAPH PAD PRISM, SPSS, Assistat and Sigmaplot.

4.Bibliography and citation tools

For the aim to help with the integration of bibliography and citations into documents. They cover different style formats including APA, MLA, and Chicago.

Bibme, Citefast, Writinghouse …etc.

5. Grammar Checker

The Ginger Grammar Checker helps you write better English and efficiently corrects texts. You can use the free or paid version. Ginger requires to be connected on the internet.
