I am modelling the modal transient response of a thin cylindrical shell using both ABAQUS and Hypermesh/MSC Nastran. Both models have the same geometry, mesh size, transient input, mass properties and damping ratios however, I am getting very different responses (response comparison attached).
I made the model in ABAQUS first, but I want to recreate the model using Hypermesh/Nastran (or at least see where the differences are coming from).
I have double checked and the force on both models are placed at the same point, and the responses are being obtained at the same point in both models. I have applied a 0.03s (1-cos) input on both models.
Does anybody have any idea where these differences are coming from? My initial thought is the difference in shell elements in the different software's but nothing I do changes the responses. I have included the MID2 and MID3 options on the PSHELL properties.
I have attached the Nastran bdf and ABAQUS input file.
