In my country, there has been little change in the topics taught in sciences we learn at school. Topics like dengue fever, diabetes and stroke that are so threatening right now are not in the content of the syllabus. Areas like nanotechnology that is important to our daily lives is nowhere in the syllabus. Perhaps, students are learning more current and interesting things, from the internet, rather than at school. What do your children say?

Should we continue teaching the 'old' topics that are also important, and close our eyes to the CURRENT problems that we face now? If knowledge is power, how shall we empower our students?
