Definately yes. Please refer to the official announcements of Elsevier (https://www.journals.elsevier.com/digital-geography-and-society/announcements/covid-19-impact-on-peer-review), Springer (https://www.springer.com/journal/11095/updates/17819010) and Wiley (https://www.wiley.com/network/archive/peer-review-quality-in-the-era-of-covid-19)
Definitely! Publishing articles in different journals has become time-consuming since last few months. The focal reason is that they are prioritising COVID-19 related studies to publish first and obviously, there are now a bunch of studies submitted daily on COVID-19. Secondly, there might be a shortage of potential reviewers. Also, the waiver policy of APC in some journals is varying to some extent which has made the selection process rather competitive.
It is definitely yes. All the top publishers, BMC, T&F, Elsevier, etc acknowledged this at their sites. Beyond what Vasileios, Roland, and Nadeeta said is the fact that many reviewers are equally writing on Covid-19. This is making us very busy, reducing the rate at which they accept to review papers, and even returning such papers.
