Have anyone ever tested the Dicyclohexylurea solubility in water? Dicyclohexylurea is DCU, the side product of DCC in esterification reaction. Thanks for answers.
It is poorly soluble in water. This is why I switched to EDC which has water soluble urea product. You can easily remove EDC byproduct by washing with water. To remove DCU, you could dissolve your crude product in cold acetone and filter it out but some of the DCU still dissolves in acetone.
