You should have developed a general research planning calendar. Now it is time to develop a more detailed calendar for implementing the research. The screenshot below shows a calendar one student developed for a correlational study that examined the relationship between parents’ technology familiarity levels and students’ academic use of technology.
In developing the calendar, set realistic deadlines that you are sure you can meet. Ask your dissertation chair to review your detailed calendar, and then try to adhere to the deadlines you have set.
Change the Research Schedule as Needed You should be ready to change the research schedule as the need arises, especially when unforeseen circumstances occur at the research site that require schedule alterations. Most doctoral studies in education involve schools and their faculties. As an educator, you know how unpredictable life can be in such situations. The most common result is a change in the school’s schedule. Perhaps you had planned on a faculty meeting to be held in November as a time to orient the teachers; then the principal cancels the meeting or decides there is no time for your orientation. Plan a research schedule that is flexible and allows for modification. Reschedule your work as needed. When doing so, be sure that you do not alienate the administrators or teachers; your study is not the most important aspect of their professional lives. #proposal #dissertation #thesis #research #dissertationprospectus #students #graduates
