We have a mouse model for the whole body knock-out of our gene of interest. The targeting vector harbors a Lac-Z gene reporter. We have compelling evidence that the KO induces senescence, validated with different approaches including a SASP phenotype. We want to stain whole embryos to detect senescence during development. Is there a robust alternative to Beta-Galactosidase activity assays and/or how reliable would a Betagal assay be to specifically detect senescence?
