Many countries of the world claim that they have made tremendous progress in different branches of science including virology, but they seem to be helpless in front of COVID-19. Why it is so? Will they succeed in achieving complete control on this virus in near future?
if everyone stays at home for a month, the virus will disappear (99%), as what China had done before.
And if we come back from staying a month at home, the virus will also come back. Should we stay home forever?

Duration of exposure, Dose and Dipersion of the virus are the main factors that influence its spread. Rather than staying indoors, maintaining social distancing and good hygiene while working is a passive way of managing these factors. Once we as a group acclimatize ourselves to this new way of life, the viral spread should reduce to manageble numbers and hopefully can be eliminated in a few years.
Yes Hermann Gruenwald scientists are taking too much time in understanding the issue perhaps due to its complicated nature.

You have raised the most brilliant question that I have come across in the last seven or eight months.
There is no doubt about the fact that various branches of science have made tremendous progress, particularly in the last fifty/ sixty years or so. But at the same time it is also true that despite that progress, we have not been able to control this pandemic. This is because the controlling of this pandemic does not depend on scientific progress only. It depends on common sense and in the words of the great political scientist, Rousseau common sense is that sense which is not very common. Just today only, I wrote in another thread in RG that this is a pandemic. Pandemic means a global problem. To solve the global problem, every country has applied various local measures within itself. That is why, it can be seen that when one country is imposing lock down, its neighboring country is lifting it. Are we hoping that like us (humans), these virus will also not cross the borders?
Professor, I sometimes wonder that on what basis we claim that we are the smartest specie in this planet. Please forgive me for my language. We are one of the stupidest species on this planet. And, if anybody wants proof for that, just look at the lock down schedule of the world. We are hoping to solve a global problem with few local measures. That's why, we did not succeed in our attempt to control COVID-19.

Because the epidemic on a global scale, i.e. the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic, appeared for the first time. Besides, the coronavirus rapidly mutates and new variants of the virus are formed.

There are a number of guidelines/awareness related to prevention and control of this disease covering the entire spectrum.
However, there should be at least a little anxiety about contracting the disease and the death in the coming future among the public, for their minds to control their behavior to adhere to all the steps explained without even breaking a tiny step which can leak the virus.
People are more positive and less anxious than it should be. No body expects their death and waiting only to see the number of deaths happening in the country.
People need to see role models throughout the day for them to follow.
Self discipline should come from one's interior which gives them some contentment. Most have not experienced it.
On the other hand, this failure is partly due to their inability to look at the issue in a visionary way.
