Could I please get the guidance on Helix antenna operated from 1.5 - 1.8 GHz. I am designing in hfss and not able to cover 1.5 GHz. Could I get papers or suggestions on numbers I use to cover this freq. please?
There is no reason I know of why HFSS won't do 1.5 GHz. If you can't get HFSS to work at 1.5 GHz, then, design it at 15 GHz then make it 10 times larger, or at 150 MHz and make it 10 times smaller.
Its not like HFSS is not covering 1.5 GHZ. somehow, my parameters are so wrong here and not getting S11 correct. May be I used to pitch is 13 deg and in hfss, the unit for pitch is mm or in. May be here, I am wrong.
I think I am making a mistake on assigning a excitation. I have centre pin connected to the helix. Is it enough to assign a lumped port on the centre conductor only? I think I should make a dielectric and outer conductor also. Can I assign a lumped port from outer conductor to the centre conductor?
Best source for detailed theory, analysis, and design of helical antennas is the legendary book by Kraus: "Antennas", 3rd Edition, by by John D. Kraus & Ronald J. Marhefka.
