Hello everyone, I’m working on the geometric design of a centrifugal pump impeller and need guidance on drawing its meridional (axial) section. Specifically, I’d like to :

  • Determine the axial extension z_E and the radii of curvature R_DS and R_TS for the front and rear shrouds (see Chap. 7.2.2.1 in Gülich’s “Centrifugal Pumps”).
  • Compute all key diameters (d1, d1i, dn, d2), widths (b1, b2) and clearances (g1).
  • Relate these to the blade inlet/outlet angles beta1 and beta2 and the minimum throat area A1q.

What formulas or step-by-step procedures do experts use to position z_E, R_DS, R_TS, and construct the meridional outline?

Any references would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you!
