Thank you. I know very little about the HOMER. To my understanding, HOMER is a cost optimization software. Correct me if I am wrong.

My goal is to design a small microgrid system with grid-tied PV farm and energy storage system. I am planning to implement energy management system i.e. supplying power to the grid/ charging battery, cutting 50% power to the grid. I don't want to use simulink because it require detail design.

My question is can I design such a system using HOMER?

However, it doesn't give me all option that is required for my analysis. I didn't see anything about the purpose option during filling the online form. There is an option for ETAP® Power Lab™ for educational institution. Are you taking about this:

However, my institution doesn't have ETAP educational license. We requested for the license. Maybe it will take some time. I wonder if you could give me some link/resource to download ETAP for research purpose only from ETAP.
