Dear fellow researchers.
Im currently deciding for a Alpha or HTRF modul on my plate reader.
Now I found contrasting results on assay performance. perkin elmer (Alpha) naturally suggest theirs is superior to cisbio (HTRF) assays and vice versa.
Google did not give much unbiased information. But the two papers I found give similar CVs for the assays. (see attached)
So my question to you is: Do you have a recommendation which one to choose as sensitive module? Any hands on experience with both assays?

Based on my observations, AlphaScreen is very sensitive to perturbation whereas HTRF is robust. If I had to choose one, I'd choose HTRF.
AlphaScreen is very sensitive, requires dark room to be measured, special filters and much more expensive in general.
HTRF works in majority of cases and if your signal to background is 2:1 you can trust the data.
So if the system that you're measuring doesn't require extra sensitivity - go with HTRF.
