I consider your idea very relevant an useful. So, I suggest to don't limitate the frame to just one e-commerce site or company. Try to make a panel from different kinds of e-commerce (b2c, b2b, p2p) and compare how loyalty dependence varies from time and place as control variables.

I think the best way to include time and place is including this as categorical questions on the survey. About time, you must be careful to include a wide range of options, always considering the kind of e-commerce selected as I suggest in my previous comment (probably the best way is considering time as buying frequency). For the "place" variable, it could be intended in so many ways: where are people realizing transactions (home, work)?...or geographical place?...this is not enough clear for me.
