I having some issues with the performance of my reactors. some context to question:
- 3 CSTR is series
- All of the reactors are equal in volume
- Reaction follows first order. (Fenton-based AOP for organic degradation)
Would like to know if there is any reason why 3 reactors does not perform as well as 2 reactors. Also i would i like to know if there are any free softwares available to model such reactor designs?
What do you mean by this, "two CSTR in series performs better than three". Do you mean higher substrate conversion or higher product yield?
Mirosław Grzesik in my application, it's more for water treatment processes. In chemical engineering principals, CSTR in series has a higher conversion rate (if i am not wrong). As such in this context, it should be higher degradation (or conversion rate) rate,
Brandon Lee, I still don't know what you mean. The rate of degradation will be lower in each successive reactor, but the conversion of the degradable material must be greater. In addition, avoid using the term "conversion rate". It is incorrect.
