Very interesting Question...I read a good answer to your question on fund raising. Here are my suggestions for other questions;
--> Probably it's a new approach to raise awareness and sale of the book as those who fund into the project are possibly one''s interested in the subject too and would also be possibly the best ambassadors for marketing the book for their own interest.
--> In my experience eBook readership is growing, however print version can't be ignored as typical book-worms buy and read the print version too.
--> Can't recommend on most appropriate crowdfunding platform between -Kickstarter, Indiegogo...or others, as my perspective is, the platform that you chose, should facilitate successful outcomes for each of the stakeholders including the platform itself.
--> Although, I have no experience on crowdfunding, so giving a recommendation is not apt on my part, however I venture to suggest, having a well thought out proposition which appeals most in "crowd" with a clear laid out plans backed up by testimonials/credentials should do the trick.

Books are not only books anymore. especially business books have the capacity to grow a community of followers and collaborators among entrepreneurs, investors and companies . I am currently developing a project that has a book as central element . but clearly offers bigger interaction opportunities. explore Co-creation and crowdsourcíngulo in addition to just crowdfunding
