Since the advent of this novel pandemic COVID 19. Researchers have deliberated on the pros of the virus. While some experts believe that it has been able to curb some forms of pollution such as air, (climate action) and also contributed to the control of human population as human explosion harm the planet.
A seeming population still refute the benefits of the pandemic to the environmental sustainability discourse.
1. What are the major benefits of Covid19 from the environmentalists perspective?
2. To what extent do you accept the benefits per sé or reject any speculation?
3. What are the challenges of the Pandemic in achieving the sustainable development goals?
Well .... Epidemic/Pandemics are unwanted natural disasters which could be linked directly or indirectly with past human activities.... They are really hazardous to humanity and it’s sustenance...
As far as human population explosion aspects are concerned, there are so many other decent scientific and educational methods through which we could control it... we don’t need any natural calamity to control human population...
But definitely, no doubt... for past few decades, indiscriminately and brainlessly performed certain human activities were posing great threats to our environment etc.
Because of total lockdown/shutdown of outdoor human activities, industries in many countries....environmental pollution is surely going down...
Out of 17 goals of SDG, which were supposed to be attained by 2030, except few, rest of them have faced a setback in terms of business, developmental issue, control of communicable diseases (goal 3 with targets).....
In Saudi Arabia the lock down has resulted in depletion of medications. There is no warfarin available. Antimicrobials are in very short supply. Shipping charges have increased significantly. The situation is likely to be similar in other countries. We must urgently determine which medications are effective for this condition to avoid wastage.
This will destroy any gains in sustainable developments in recent years.

The SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic has created a profound health, social and economic crisis. Due to the decline in economic growth and the recession in many economies, the level of production fell and the demand for raw materials from the classical energy sector also fell. Environmental pollution has decreased in many parts of the world. Therefore, it was possible to carry out a pro-ecological transformation of the economy, including the development of renewable energy sources replacing energy based on burning fossil fuels. The level of pro-environmental awareness of citizens may also increase. As a result, the possibilities of implementing the principles and goals of sustainable development are increasing.
