Covid-19 vaccine passport sounds like a useful idea but it may prove to be too cumbersome to implement at a large-scale and it may not even be necessary once more than half the global population is vaccinated because it may lead to herd immunity!
This situation is abhorrent. The WHO have said that there is not sufficient evidence the vaccination is effective to implement vaccine passports and yet many countries are heading in that direction. The introduction of vaccine passports with reduced restrictions for the vaccinated is likely to propagate the pandemic if vaccination is not as effective as advertised.
Yes, some countries are already (May 2021) introducing or announcing the introduction of covid passports after the unblocking of the tourism sector. This is to increase anti-pandemic safety and may be encouraging for tourists who are looking for vacation spots that respect high anti-pandemic safety standards.

If covid passports become widespread and in the following years new varieties of the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus appear, the covid passports may be updated annually if citizens decide to vaccinate in the following years with the vaccine for new variants of Coronavirus.
