Hospice and palliative care is facing special issues currently.
Non COVID-19 patients cannot get the direct contact and care from close ones and the care teams. At home they are more isolated, and also in hospices visits are reduced to the absolute minimum.
COVID-19 patients often do not have contact to family members before being sedated for intubation. In many cases there is no way to have a last contact to the beloved ones.
Which smart-technology solutions are there currently applied?
Which solutions are applied, that are also fullfilling standardds of data protectin?
I am really eager to learn more and share experiences and ideas!

The most essential parts of hospice and palliative care, particularly, the former one, hospice care at the end of life, require face to face meeting between the patient and the other key person present personally in person. Our hospice ward still allows this to happen in the ward when the practice of wearing of a facial mask and hand washing can be nicely observed. A Korean group uses AR technology to rebuild a deceased daughter in the virtual reality whom the mother can talk to face-to-face with even electronic touches to satisfy the unfinished conversation stuck in the mother's heart for too long. But this is for bereavement care only.
Yes, it’s an issue not only for paliative patients in hospices but more generally for patients in hospital ICUs. In some cases attendants have used Skype to link the patient with external family members before intubation.I have heard from others who have been urging patients and families to have their ‘final conversation” early, even if unnecessary at the moment. That way should emergency procedures be needed both the patient and family members will feel they have been prepared. But in palliative, we often find those conversations on going before a final crisis.
Yes, it's the patients need caring for palliative care of life-threatening in the patients COVID-19 before is end-of-life. Therefor smart technology in hospice and palliative settings use the program support is MS-Team, Zoom, Line or Facebook.
Es muy importante conocer lo que ud refiere del uso de la tecnologia en este caso de aplicaciones que pueden resolver situaciones extremas y en condiciones antes del duelo.En los casos de paises que poseen atencion primaria de Salud ligada a estos pacientes y en estos moemntos de pandemia es necesario tambien establecer una estrtegia de trabajo que concatene el medico y la enfermera de la atencion primaria con estos pacientes. Estamos hablando fuera de la UCI y de los hospitales .
