I think you will find the logic in chess game is located in the strategy used. In that way any discussion on prisoner's dilemma game will address such a point. I think that you will be interested in the non-cooperative solution. But a draw (a kind of collusive solution) is possible. Once you get into the information each players have, the way they partition their information etc., the outcome and strategies become infinite or more challenging. In regards to references, any intermediate book on game theory will do.
There are a couple of books by the logician Raymond M. Smullyan that deal with chess reasoning in a literary context:
The Chess Mysteries of the Arabian Knights (1981)
The Chess Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes (2012)
