The ICIQ-UI Short Form provides a brief and robust measure to assess the impact of symptoms of incontinence on quality of life and outcome of treatment. It is used for adult women of all ages. In addition it's free.

You could also use the UDI and IIQ questionnaires (long or short forms) for assessing of both, the severity of urinary incontinence and its impact on quality of life. These questionnaires are free and are also supported by IUGA and ICS organizations. Both questionnaires are used for a routine clinical work (short form) as well as for the research work (long form)...

Years ago I read the article from Uebersax et al (Neurourol Urodyn. 1995;14(2):131-9.) and at the end of this article I found both questionnaires. At that time, I was desperately looking for useful questionnaires, so I decided to write one of the authors (Sally A. Shumaker) an email ([email protected]) and asked her permission to use both questionnaires in my clinical practice. She agreed and so I started to use them. In my opinion these instruments are quite good and are recognized by all important international URO/UROGYN societies.

This is quite a long thread. but I would like to contribute this: I recommend that you review the the nursing literature on this subject. At NYU, the doctoral programs in the College of Nursing attract international researchers, with established research programs of their own. Urinary incontinence in women is a special concern of nurses. Funded research is conducted in all methodologies, using a number of patient-friendly, validated measures.I offer this suggestion since I believe this research can inform your present and future studies. Interestingly, most of the articles, I've researched do not use instruments as systematic as yours. I have seen Clinical Interview and Self Report. Some measure Pelvic Floor Strength. It is so interesting that you are studying mode of delivery. I believe that related research studies (see below or other) use mode of delivery as a variable.

I am attaching a link to a guideline document for female incontinence published by the US Department of Health and Human Services. There is a brief reference to interventions for post partum women, but the categories are numerous and comprehensive.You may find the document in total helpful. I think it would require a closer search of the publications that guided the document. Overall, I believe it would be helpful to anyone studying this topic.
