GIS is being used almost in every field. For new user it is necessary to have good knowledge not only for understanding the software but also for its implementation. Kindly guide me in this regards. Imran A Khan
Easiest is to start with the tutorials that come with the GIS software you are using and then have a look in the online community platform that most GIS softwares have.
If you still haven't decided which software to use, you could start with ILWIS, which is free and open-source and has a large user community. It inlcudes tools for modelling and tutorials and demos to show you how it works. See http://52north.org/communities/ilwis/ilwis-open for downloads and information.
I started 3 year ago my experience in GIS field and I think one good start point could be working on QGIS because of its large availability of detailed guides and tutorial in many languages.
First you should decide which GIS software to use. I recommend to use Quantum GIS (http://www.qgis.org/es/site/) it is a free and user friendly GIS software, however the best payment otion for beginers is ESRI software (ArcGIS series).
You can find a nice tutorial for beginners about Quantum GIS in http://www.preventionweb.net/files/13932_ACF2.pdf
and in you tube you can find a lot of tutorials like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BkaazSVIbI
