People have varying opinions about the value of the RG score, but if you want your score to go up, here are some strategies:
1. Remember that your score is relative to everybody else. If you are only a little active, the overall average may be more active than you and your score may drop this week. So stay active, even if your score drops this week.
2. Make sure that all of your publications are listed, including with full texts, if the copyright of the journal allows.
3. Ask thought-provoking questions that readers are likely to recommend.
4. Give thoughtful answers to the questions of others that readers are likely to recommend.
5. Follow other researchers as a way of encouraging them to follow you back.
The RG Score Algorithm is constantly being changed. Irrespective of what I do the score is dropping by the week. I've now stopped bothering about my RG Score.
Dear Emmanuel V Murray as you say that you are involved in different activities in RG but score is dropping by the week. What is the reason behind it? Why RG is doing so?
Mohammod Hossain this is certainly one of the most often asked question on RG. For many more informations you should check out the numerous closely related threads. Just search for the topic "increase RG score" and select "Questions"!
In order to achieve a steady Increase of your RG score (provided that the score is important for you...) you should try to do both: 1. Try to answer more questions. 2. Add more research items. You can post not only publications, but also other items such as posters, presentations, lectures, manuscripts, supporting data and many more.

Being a member of RG is simply one of the many ways by which we can give direction and purpose to our academic activities. Therefore, any increase or decrease in the RG score should not dishearten you. We should know that the main purpose behind the RG platform is to keep in touch with ardent and academically active researchers, teachers and scholars and benefit from their insightful ideas. As for improving one's RG score, the only way I know is to work harder and harder.
Thank you all for your thoughtful answers. Dear Professor Frank T. Edelmann actually RG score doesn't help me professionally but your suggestions are appreciative.
RG score consists of four sections, which are publications, questions, answers and followers. If you want to increase RG score, you need to increase the score of publications by increasing the number of publications, the number of citations, the number of projects, the number of reads and publications downloads. Also you need to increase the number of questions you ask, it should have many answers as well as many recommendations. You need to participate in answering questions posted by other people. Last you need to increase your followers.
Mostafa Rashdan RG will never tell you / us how the RG score is calculated. As you said, it is the result of a combination of posted research items and interaction with other RG members. However, the score is deliberately kept non-transparent so that we remain puzzled and spend much time with threads like this one. 😎
Regardless of the score, this site has been of wonderful value to me. I find that this site allows me to see or at least to request research papers that cannot be found for free since authors frequently post their papers or if you kindly ask them for a copy to be sent for private use they do send it and herein lies the beauty of this site in addition to being connected with so many others in your field of study or related to your primary studies. Research Gate and its followers have become one of most beloved sites to share or learn science. It is very close to having a huge library in your own home to study and learn from as well as sharing your own findings with so many other interested individuals. Scores may be a nice thing but I think we are all more interested in the dissemination of knowledge and receiving of knowledge and making new friends in the world of science!
@Mohammod Hossain Your question has three subquestion. You can also observe activities of your fellow colleagues at RG. Like living and non-living systems, RG score has also maintenance cost. If you continue to add significantly to the components, your RG score continues to grow. If you stop your activities, and there is no increase in citations, publications, etc your RG score may slightly decline. I always take it in that spirit and perspective.
Mohammod Hossain I fully agree with Arbind K. Choudhary. You need to be constantly active on RG if you want to steadily increase your RG score or at lest keep it constant. This could take a lot of time and it depends on how important the RG score is for you.
I agree that the score is less important than the opportunity to share and discuss research. I do, however, wonder from time to time how it is possible to generate high RG scores. Answers on a postcard, please.
Neil Dagnall high RG scores can be the result e.g. of a combination of a large numbers of research items plus numerous regular interactions with other RG members. Occasionally they are also the result of a smaller number of research items plus very numerous interactions with other RG members. Please always keep in mind that the RG score has little or no importance in real life.
Neil Dagnall for a more detailed breakdown of other RG members' score just go to their RG page and click on "Scores". The breakdown will show you how the individual RG score is based on research and answers etc.
Jean-Pierre Jost this is a good comparison between RG score and stock exchange! After all, the score is an incentive to spend as much time on the platform as possible.
You can increase your RG by increasing your scientific activity such as increasing your publishing articles and incrasing your citition in scientific journals and even when you ask some quistions and answers
Publish papers on topics that are in high demand, so that people can cite your works and so that you can get more recommendations for your publications.
Ask attractive questions that readers may recommend.
Provide good answers to questions asked by other RG users.
Follow other RG users so that they can in turn follow you.
