Hi everyone
My research examines the effect of using videos on English idiom learning. So, it is regarded a scientific research which means that i should use tests as research instrument. However, i use also attitudinal questionnaire. Unfortunately, my supervisor said that it is not good to use questionnaire as i measure the effectiveness of something. So, could you please help me provide a reference that support the ability to use both instruments in such type of research.

You have to define the meaning of 'effect' before you can measure it. The 'effect' on whom and on what? 'Effectiveness' judged by whom?
If the participants are too young to fully understand the questions in a questionnaire, then your supervisor is right. Otherwise, I do not see why you cannot use questionnaire. At the end of the day, how can you tell 'effectiveness of learning' without asking the subjects themselves?
