Medha Patkar mobilized massive marches and peaceful protests against the construction of India’s Sardar Sarovar Dam, which displaced thousands of tribal peoples and submerged vast stretches of forests and farmland.
There are many that say they are protecting the environment but few that really do.
In the USA many companies want you to believe they are doing the right thing. People like my self and others work to convince the society that the path we are taking will lead to a poor future for our children. Most of the people I know would never feed their children poisons or make them drink water with lead in it but they will allow power plants to put deadly Mercury in the air and water to have the future generations clean it up. So most of them are okay with poisons as long as someone else has to pay for it later.
I have not been arrested but I have not made many friends in the energy sector. I would be careful that many who say they have been arrested for this cause have other motives. If we are to care for our families then all of us need to stand up and help not fight for change. The great evil in this is the big business that has no heart or sole but is given rights to destroy the future in the name of profit or jobs.
Thank you for your contribution. I'm very surprised why the RG members haven’t contributed to this issue. I hope scientists and independent researchers are not fair to say the truth. We must work against the greed of Spoilers our planet.
You are correct. I think that I am being sanctioned right now. I no longer get updates when people answer my questions. I had to go and find this thread and it was not easy. I think that I have been speaking out too much and they can just stop me by not forwarding on the requests that I have been getting up to about 3 weeks ago.
Have you noticed any changes in your service through RG? I will know if you do not reply that it is happening. I have had others that are friends be removed for being free thinkers so it will not surprise me.
I am concerned that so much is vested in sites like this one that other are to easy to give up on the truth.

I am happy to contribute to your question. Though there are many people, picking only a few who were spotlight contributors.
Bahuguna, who first undertook a fast in 1989 to protest against the Tehri project, brought work on the dam to a halt again on April 14 this year by staging a dharna at the project site. On May 10, he was arrested and taken to Lucknow but as soon as he was set free - on May 20 - he returned to Tehri and resumed his demonstration.
We do not wish to be arrested any of the environmental scientists, but there are projects set up by companies with support from the governments do not meet environmental safety and does not consider the ecological balance.
You are absolutely correct, sir, but I said that I haven't heard about one who has been arrested in Egypt for this reason. However, I agree with you for sure. May GOD save us all, and save our planet. Best regards sir...Truly...Mona Naim.
As far as I know, no scientists, involving with environmental protection, have been arrested due to their activities in this field, in my country (Greece), too.
Mostly Scientists are government paid hence they are rarely involved in political and environmental issues. they analyse the situation and publish their findings about the bad things in the envivronment
In the USA it is not that they are arrested but that they are not promoted or not allowed to advance if they do not follow the excepted lines in the science.
Nowadays we are under the climate change impact, most of political and governing class do not care enough to this issue and have no action or care to environmental destruction.
The octogenarian environmentalist, who is a former IIT professor, had launched his indefinite fast against environmental degradation in Uttarakhand on June 13 on the banks of the Ganga river in Haridwar, said Rajendra Singh, Magsaysay awardee and well-known water conservationist.
