Could you help me about phenol preparation
I had a solid phenol from sigma. But every time when i dissolve it, the solution becomes more pink. Closer to the end of the bottle, it’s so hard to take crystallizing phenol from the bottle. Am i doing something wrong ? or what should i exactly use? Solid or liquid phenol?

The normal phenol must be white or colourless solid. With time it becomes more pink as a result of partial oxidation to quinones.
For the syntheses it is better to use solid, not a liquid.

The observed pink colour seemingly could be explained by reddish phenoquinone contamination; it may be due to phenol oxidation by exposure to air, moisture, and sunlight.
