In January, Fuji Pigment Co. Ltd. (not affiliated with Fujifilm) announced that it had made a significant breakthrough in aluminum-air battery technology. According to a report, this innovation could possibly make obsolete Tesla's giga battery factory in Nevada.

Frankly, I somewhat doubt the technical authenticity in Fuji Pigment's press release. From my group's experience in making chlorophyll battery, Al-air, Mg-air batteries, and DNA-catalyzed hydrogen fuel cell prototypes, their Al-air thing should only be a primary one, i.e., not secondary (or, recyclable). It could be only that their Al electrode is better arranged and protected such that the battery looks recyclable, as long ad before the Al is burnt out.
