Ussually, we use running average to detrend total electron content (TEC) data from GPS(GNSS) and to filter required period range. Could someone recomend a paper devoted to comparison of different filters for this purpose.
We compared different filtering techniques. Our analysis revealed that one need to detrend data and then to select TEC variations. To detrend slant total electron content, cubic smoothing spline provided the best results among the versions analyzed. 6th-order polynomial also produced good results. For the variation selection, the centered moving average filter showed the best performance.
