These are pictures of lacustrine shale, and the greylish-white long strips are bioderitus which are considered as bivalves. The biolithte limestome is very commom in lake shore eara while black mudstone diposites. But how the bioderitus diposited in middle of the lake ? I think maybe it is taken there by storm or gravity flow, but I did not see any typical sedimentary structure of tempestite or hyperpycnite.
Why shouldn't there be clams in the middle of the lake? An examination of today's conditions could be interesting. Are there clams there today? Incidentally, sediment can accumulate over a long period of time, so even if mussels rarely appear at depth, they may have accumulated over a long period of time.
I think for bivalves deep lake reduction environment is not suitable for survival @Arne Andersen
